Mid-Week Motivation: Going Big

“Life doesn’t have a remote, you need to get off the couch in order to change it!” -anonymous

As I look back at my couch and some of the major decisions I have made over the last week, I realise that no matter what, in order to do any great thing, you need to be willing to get off your butt and make it happen.

There are a few big, exciting prospects lined up in the life of PhilSwim, keep watching this space to find out more.

Mid-Week Motivation: Results vs Excuses

There are two types of people in this world, those that go after the results they want and those that make excuses as to why they can’t. The two don’t go hand in hand. This week I have seen and heard many excuses, I even found myself doubting my own ability. Luckily I have some pretty awesome people around me forming my support structure and they made me realise that no dreams/goals or results happen without belief.

Which type of person are you? Are you working hard in order to earn results or are you making excuses?

Go out and have a kick ass Wednesday, open the door of opportunity and go after those dreams, I am!

Motivation: Don’t Quit

Brendon, my coach, likes to stand of the pool shouting words of encouragement and motivation. When there is a big goal you are working towards, to find the words to get you motivated becomes easier. When there is no goal, motivation levels drop, enthusiasm squanders and it becomes easier to slack or give up.

For 2013 I have one or two goals which are going to push my limits, they are not going to be easy and to be honest, the thought of them actually scares me. I am hoping to push myself out of my comfort zone, again. The nature of this competitive sport beast, is your ability to push yourself, how far you are willing to go, how far you are willing to push yourself in order to achieve those goals. The easier the goal, the less you need to push. Place the goal as high or as far as possible, the harder you will need to work in order to achieve it. I have put my goal pretty far into the distance, a fair amount of pain is going to be required in order to get there, but hey, it’s all part of the journey!

I will leave you with this as you head off for your holidays. Some people will be training throughout the holiday whilst others will be sitting with their feet up and relaxing, which option are you going take? If you have a racing goal and you really want to achieve it, now is not the time to put those feet up. 2013 is around the corner, I hope you have set big goals and dreams for next year.
